INTRODUCTION TO NANCI K HOGAN COACHING AND CONSULTING

Introduction to Nanci K Hogan Coaching and Consulting

My logo above,  a triskelion, is a Celtic symbol with four leaves representing body, heart, mind and soul. Being holistic and addressing every aspect of our being is the USP of all the work I do. It is at the heart of my coaching, consulting, mentoring and training programmes.

As human beings we are all designed to flourish.  We are meant to grow.  The status quo which keeps us from growing and changing is meant to be challenged. And we are all creative—it is part of what it means to be human and to flourish as human beings.  Our lives all have meaning, purpose and significance.  Our lives matter.

Below is my own story about who I am and why I’m doing what I do now.  I hope it will inspire you to think about your own journey.

My Story

As a coach, consultant and thought leader of human and organizational/community flourishing since September 11, 2021, I wanted to dedicate myself full-time to developing my own consultancy and coaching business; something that has been a long-held dream of mine.  Given that I was beginning my own Third Act, time was running out.

It was now or never.

So, in July 2021, after doing some serious soul searching, I began my journey to rebrand and relaunch my company, formerly known as Sophia Transformations (Sophia coming from the Greek word for wisdom).

This website and the related programmes, products and services are a result of the journey I have been on since July 2021 as well as my extensive experience and education. These products and services reflect my own model of transformation, the seven components of individual and community (organizational) flourishing.

Undertaking my own journey of discovery

As part of my Third Act life review, I conducted an intense re-evaluation my mission, purpose, vision and values in life and how I wanted my revamped company to reflect those values.  At that point in time, I had been also working at Thrive Worldwide for four years as both Co-Founder and the Director of Thought Leadership.  To dedicate myself full-time to setting up a company, I also resigned from Thrive.

While working Thrive Worldwide, a for profit private sector  company providing health and well-being services to workers overseas, I led a multidisciplinary team that developed a model for transformation for both individual and organizational thriving, which is now affectionately known as the 9X9 model. In the Thrive model we discovered and wrote about nine components of individual thriving and nine components of organizational thriving.  Thrive is currently embedding the model in all their products and services.

My earlier career

Prior to working at Thrive, I spent more than 25 years in the Third Sector (charitable, non-profit, humanitarian aid).

In this capacity I founded and led a variety of departments as a senior international leader of a large international nongovernmental organization (INGO) with offices in more than 100 countries. In my various roles I trained, equipped, mentored and coached young people, change agents, in international development and international advocacy at the United Nations level.   The primary social justice issues I was involved in was women’s human rights and ending all forms of violence against women and girls, especially with respect to human trafficking and female genital mutilation. I’ve also done work in peacebuilding and reconciliation, particularly with respect to Israel and Palestine.

Additionally, I’ve spent time in the public sector working for local and national government.  In my role as Chief of Staff for the Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner, I developed and lead our victim and community safety work, especially as it pertained to assisting victims of domestic abuse.

Finally, I worked in the private sector for about 8 years total  in various roles in the health and well being,  telecommunications and hospitality industries.

I bring a cross-cultural, multi-sector and transdisciplinary approach to my work.  This is because of having worked in  three sectors, plus having done post graduate degrees which span multiple disciplines (history, gender, culture, religion, economics, politics and foreign languages). This is invaluable due to the fact social justice issues are complex.  If transformational and sustainable change is to take place these complex issues require  transdisciplinary and multi-sectoral approaches.

My core values

My core values and the core values of my business are creativity, justice, freedom, liberation, beauty and flourishing.  I believe it is possible to use imagination and creativity to create brand-new and aesthetically beautiful solutions to the complex issues that face the world today, i.e. poverty, gender equality, climate change, and armed conflict.

My purpose and aspirations

As you can see from the life review above, my main purpose in life is to promote flourishing and to work for justice

I have done this in every job I have ever held. And since 9/11 when the planes hit the twin towers, I deliberately sought to become a thought leader in human flourishing.

Flourishing is the antidote to the religious and secular fundamentalisms that are at the root of injustice, and which still prevent people from flourishing as their best selves, the selves they have the potential to become.

For the past 23 years, I have studied, researched, wrote, taught about and am still exploring human flourishing as a model for personal, social and global transformation.

Therefore the  purpose of my business is two-fold:

First to inspire then guide people on their own personal journey of flourishing—how they can better flourish and be liberated to experience new depths of freedom).

Second, to coach, mentor and train individuals and organizations to help develop social impact projects designed to help others flourish.  In other words, I guide people on a journey of liberation, flourishing, freedom, beauty and  creativity, so that they can in turn guide others on their journey.

My aspiration is to inspire, create and initiate global revolutions of flourishing where everyone is becoming their best selves and leading their best lives.

I do this through thought leadership (writing blogs and doing podcasts), coaching, training, mentoring and consulting.
